Asbestos in the workplace

Did you know that asbestos is the biggest cause of death in the work place, accounting for 170 workplace deaths each year. The Health and Safety at Work Act (asbestos) 2016 requires businesses (of any size) to identify all asbestos in the workplace. In order to be compliant with the regulations all asbestos products are required to be identified, sampled and included in an asbestos management plan. Failure to comply with the regulations can result in fines, court orders and imprisonment.

Asbestos is present in over 3000 products so identification is not always easy. If you are unsure whether there is the potential for asbestos to be within your workplace contact us for support to discuss your situation with a BOHS IP402 qualified industry professional.

Check before you disturb.
